Origin are a specialist packaging provider focusing on supporting clients in the Pharma, healthcare and wellbeing industries. Origin have over 60 years of experience and have worked with many of the world’s leading brand owners in their specialist sectors. Training management and audit compliance are a key part of how they do business.
With a team of just under 50, their training records were managed from spreadsheets and paper records, and often led on an ad-hoc basis according to individual employee training needs. The result was that not every employee had fully up-to-date training records and a clear path of their training needs and skills gaps for each quarter. Furthermore, the risk of not being able to evidence a complete training file during an audit, which could result in non-conformance, was increasing.
This risk was one that the progressive Quality Manager Joanne Davies was determined to find a solution to, by leading the charge to go digital and paperless on their training and compliance.
While in vendor discovery and following trials of a number of other LMS platforms, they were introduced to Nvolve by another of our platform users. The referring client users detailed their experience with setup, integration, onboarding, day to day use and ongoing support persuading Origin to meet with Nvolve and see for themselves.
Joanne explained
… we looked at a number of other platforms before Nvolve but the setup and learning curve were too demanding and would push us past the aggressive target we’d set in the business to have a functioning digital training system by end Q1, 2024. It was on this basis that we were recommended Nvolve by another Nvolve customer, with their full understanding of the task we’d set ourselves.
It was not easy but we were just small and agile enough to get data imported, sunset old paper records, re-allocate and confirm all training on ISO, safety and internal SOPs within the 3 month window.
Joanne also stated that this had another key benefit; by re-allocating and re-issuing training reminders and alerts on the system, the Origin team were becoming more accustomed to the new digital system, which positively influenced engagement and co-operation when new training or procedures were uploaded.

Joanne also mentioned that they now had a massive uplift in their confidence about unannounced and upcoming audits of all kinds, knowing that the auditors had been full of praise for their preparedness and efficiency just weeks after the Q1 digital system implementation KPI had been met.
The difference from before and after Nvolve is deeply felt, with the business now routinely achieving training compliance of over 99%.
Origin are now issuing all operating procedures for key equipment investments and mechanisation on the Nvolve platform, closing any gaps where untrained operatives could potentially cause impact or injury such as on forklifts.
In closing, Joanne remarked that when setup correctly and once team buy-in was secured, the system literally “…runs itself”.
She added that when any queries or issues arise, that the Nvolve support team gives a “…highly responsive” level of support that blends simple ticketed support with the knowledge and rapport that comes from having a support team that is deeply invested in the success of the platform for each customer and the ongoing relationship with them as a valued client-partner.
