Established in 1978, Kinnerton Confectionery is Britain’s largest manufacturer of chocolate and novelty confectionery specialising in character licensing. They produce private label and bespoke confectionery for Britain’s largest retailers as well as many famous brands.
Quality and Safety are central to the Kinnerton manufacturing capability and are clearly demonstrated through all their processes and procedures. The challenge that Kinnerton faced was to implement a training and compliance system that would help streamline their operations to ensure high quality produce, and a safe working environment at all times.
Kinnerton Confectionery had originally used a paper and manual based approach to training and compliance but evidently wanted to move towards an automated paperless system that would track and document training results and certificates, ensure their training matrix was always up to date whilst also ensures that they were audit ready every day with instant access to high level risk and compliance management reports.
Having assessed the market they selected the Group Learner™ Compliance and Training platform as it with was the best fit for their exact requirements for their manufacturing site in Fakenham and Sherburn-in-Elmet.
Group Learner’s training and compliance platform is fast becoming the preferred method to enable food manufacturing companies to deliver and document high quality training to their workforce with very little hassle.
Having previously used a very time intensive, manual approach to assess their staff, Kinnerton Confectionery moved to use Group Learner’s training solution to improve efficiencies within their training and compliance divisions.
Commenting on the switch to Group Learner™, Dean Hunter, HR Director at Kinnerton Confectionery said:
“What we were looking for one system to help manage our training academy, documents, standards operating procedures and sign-offs in one location as opposed to having multiple excel sheets managing all this information. Having first implemented Group Learner in March of this year we have to date delivered over 60 group training sessions in training courses such as CIEH Level 2 Food Safety, CIEH Level 2 Health & Safety, ESOL Assessments and our Site Specific Inductions”.
Dean Hunter also added: “Our training sessions are now a lot more interactive and engaging, with the ability to get instant feedback from trainees. This helps us to determine how well our trainees understand the material covered and thereby increasing our pass rates. Our trainees find the handheld keypads, which are used to answer the assessment questions very easy to use. The online Compliance & Training platform enables us to generate compliance reports at the click of a button which is ideal for our constant auditing needs”.
For Kinnerton Confectionery, Group Learner™ has made their training and compliance requirements easier and more manageable, allowing the company to focus on producing high quality confectionery products.
